If you're anything like me, you enjoy match 3 games. Microsoft Jewel is a simplistic, colorful match-3 game that anyone can enjoy. There are many games like it on the market but Microsoft Jewel stands out in its' own way. I love being able to jump right into a game without having to wait for ads, in-game purchase offers, or a boring tutorial. The colors are bright and vivid and the playstyle is casual but still exciting.
Microsoft Jewel is a classic match-3 game that tasks a player with removing connected lines of gemstones from a playboard in a fantasy-themed environment that features a beautiful, sparkling castle nestled among the clouds.
The board displays a mix of cut gems, including amethysts, emeralds, rubies and sapphires. The player must align and connect three or more of these jewels on the rows and columns of the board.
Unlike similar games, Microsoft Jewel doesn't have a timer. The player's primary objective is to obtain the highest score possible. They receive points every time they remove jewels from the board. To win a round, they merely needs to collect a certain number of specific jewels. The type and number of jewels appear on the left side of the playfield below the score area.
The game offers a hint button labeled with a magnifier icon that highlights potential matches when the player uses it. It also features a bomb booster in the form of a large gemstone that explodes after it's connected in a line with other smaller, similar gems. The explosion clears away more than the line. It also removes many nearby non-matching jewels.
How to play:
Check the board for patterns of two matching jewels in a row or column with a third matching jewel one move away near the center or end of the potential line. Swap the matching one with a non-matching one. Remove additional jewels and complete tasks for as long as possible.
Controls:
Mouse: To create a connected line of matching jewels, click the third matching jewel, and then click the non-matching one.
Another option: Click and drag the matching one toward the other.
Mobile: To create a connected line, tap the matching jewel, and then tap the non-matching one.
Another option: Tap and slide the matching one toward the other.
