Archery is a single-player, computer shooter video game. The player controls the protagonist, an archer in the employ of King Richard, and must pit his skill against that of the Black Knight in a battle for supremacy.
The player assumes the role of an English bowman who must shoot down opponents with arrows from a stationary position. Opponents appear one at a time, and three shots are available to hit them with before they disappear off-screen. The game is over when all of the player's photos are used.
A bonus object is present at any given time that indents the middle of the screen and increases the player's score if successfully hit. Other bonus items, such as crossbows and bomb arrows, also appear in one of several predetermined patterns and can be used to switch or replace the current weapon for a limited amount of time. The game equips the player with unlimited arrows in the first level but only twelve hands for every other group.
